Sarah Liu has a passion for transforming how people engage in work. In this interview with Deborah, Sarah discusses what it means to have a portfolio career and how developing one can create career flexibility and spark your competitive advantage.
“(A portfolio career is) where you actually have multiple streams of income and multiple fields of expertise,” said Sarah.
“It’s what we call the holy trinity of passion, purpose and profit and how that all comes together for you,” she said.
Sarah has developed her own impressive portfolio career as a branding strategist, senior marketer, author, speaker and entrepreneur.
“No one wants to be defined by one career path,” said Sarah.
“People’s perception and how they approach (their) career, is no longer that vertical, singular career ladder,” said Sarah. “(But rather) as a horizontal, as a dynamic and as a versatile approach.”
“I feel that’s how we become competitive in tomorrow’s world,” said Sarah.
Last year, Sarah published her second book “The World We See – Leadership Lessons from Australia’s Iconic Change Makers” which is a collection of short stories and inspirational advice from 33 CEOs and senior managers.
